School Memories:
*Singing in choral ensembles led by Gillespie, Stromberg and Jacobsen.
*The time in Mr. Finley's History of Civilization when he went around the classroom predicting how long it would take each boy's beard to start growing.
* Cutting my theatrical teeth in productions of Oklahoma, Camelot, A Raisin in the Sun and The Man Who Came to Dinner, directed by Ditton and Sieworth
* The time Mr. Sieworth, while applying my old-age makeup in "Man Who", gave me quiet words of praise and encouragement that did much to improve the self-esteem of a shy, insecure teenaged me.
* The time I was shocked and hurt by Mr. Crotty who, in a private session, told me I was a cynical person. He'll never know how deeply that wounded me. And he totally mis-read me.
* I've already blogged about the time my stage partner in the Camelot chorus was the impossibly gorgeous Leslie Fox. The chorus was supposed to be hugging and kissing in that scene but I'd never been on a date and was scared to death to touch her.
* Playing the piano, POORLY, at the East Hall commencement exercises.
* Freshman English teacher Hayden Bodycombe. What a name!!
* The excitement when the varsity basketball team won the State Championship.
* My elderly bus driver, whose leathery hands squeaked when the steering wheel slid under them.
* The great blizzard when I staggered to the bus stop, waited forever, rode to school only to have the rest of the day cancelled upon arrival.
