Paul R. Horberg, 64, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL from complications after a fall.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 pm Monday, June 26 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Dr. West, Savoy, Illinois.

Paul was born November 7, 1952 in Evanston, IL, the second son of Norman & Eileen Horberg, who preceded him in death. Paul graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1970. He went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1974. Paul spent the rest of his life in Champaign, working in the technology industry for nearly 40 years. He began his career at CBM Computer Center before moving into a position as a Client Executive at IBM. Paul retired from IBM after 23 years. At the time of his death, he was working part-time for Logicalis as a technology consultant.

Paul married Teri Volheim of Tarpon Springs, FL on September 29, 1984, she survives. Together they had two children, Casey (Nick) Joyce of Champaign, IL and Logan Horberg of Van Nuys, CA. Paul was re-married to Deena Womer Noel of Bement, IL on May 26, 2002, she survives. Paul embraced Deena’s two children Mary (Zach) Noel Stefan of Champaign, IL and Nick Noel of Champaign, IL.

Paul and Deena lived their life together as a blended family and often found themselves playfully arguing about their Cubs vs. Cardinals rivalry. Paul was a dedicated Illini & Chicago sports fan and was thrilled to finally see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. He was an avid golfer and cherished the opportunity to play with his friends while on a trip to Northern Ireland. Paul loved any excuse to travel, especially to the beach or somewhere he could play golf. He was also a lifelong music lover, and enjoyed seeing his favorite musicians like The Who or Paul McCartney in concert as often as he could. At home Paul loved to play with his dogs, Maggie & Wrigley, or help Deena in the garden.

Paul is also survived by his brother David (Gail) Horberg of Northbrook, IL, niece Stacey (Tim) Hendricks of Northbrook, IL, and nephew Todd (Kim) Horberg of Highland Park, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to share Paul’s love of baseball with a memorial contribution to Tom Jones Challenger League, ℅ Tom Grey, 3407 Mill Creek Court #3, Champaign IL 61822.

Paul was a good friend.  We first met at Skiles and our friendship continued through the years at ETHS.  He was truly a sports guru and I remember him as a member of the ETHS golf team.  At each of the reunions (I missed the 30th), we would always do our best to get caught up on what happened in the years that had gone by.  At the 45th, he was upbeat, relaxed and enjoying his semi-retirement.  May his memory be a blessing.
