GAUL, MITCHELL WADE Feb. 9, 1952 to April 9, 2010 Mitchell was born in Oak Park, Illinois. After graduating in 1979 from SIU, in Carbondale, IL, with a Masters in Sculpture, he worked in museums in Illinois (1979-1982), museums in Anchorage (1982-87), and then the San Diego Museum of Art (1987-2004). In 2004, he was able to pursue his career in Sculpture and Design full-time creating sculptures that are up around San Diego today. To define his career does little to define him as a man. He was an Artist, Sculptor, Designer, Craftsman. Mitch was a loving husband; a good brother; a loyal friend; self-effacing in his abilities and intellect, possessing a dry witty humor; strong and solid; reliable; a great hiking and trail partner; a skilled and seasoned backpacker; well traveled; patient and helpful; generous; a man of action; creative; gracious; multi-talented; a lover of good beer and conversation; and without a doubt, a true and genuine good guy. He not only made this world a better place, he made us better people for having known him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, 115 Broadway, 13 Floor, New York, NY 10006 or www.lymphoma.org
