I first met Doreen when she, and her twin sister, Bonnie, were 8 and I was 7.  We were both living in Albany Park at the time, and going to Hibbard Elementary School.  I actually met Bonnie first, and then Doreen when Bonnie and I starting becoming really close.

I spent more time at their apartment in AP than I can remember.  Sleep overs were a routine.  I used to ride the Ravenswood line to downtown Chicago with both of them on Saturday mornings to sit and watch them as Bonnie took ballet lessons and Doreen took tap at Edna McCray's Dance Studio. Can you imagine, it was safe enough for 3 7-8yr olds to travel the train downtown by themselves?!!! Boy, how times have changed. We would then come back and practice together what they had learned in front of the full-wall mirror on their living room wall.

When my family moved to Skokie, 5th grade for me, apparently Bonnie was so lonely without me there, her folks decided to move to Skokie, as well.

The memories I share with the girls are so numerous, I wouldn't know where to begin. From little girl things, to tweens, to teens, to adults married with children - We spent so much time together, spanning so many years, 41 at the time of Doreen's passing - that I was often mistaken as the 3rd twin.

Doreen had married, divorced and remarried years later when she finally succumbed to cancer shortly before our 30th Reunion.  She was 49 years old.  She left behind one son, Bradley.
