John Kelly Walsh, 65, resident of Simi Valley since 2009, died peacefully at his home on September 10, 2017. John was born in Elmira, New York on November 4, 1951. Raised in Evanston, Illinois, John was an accomplished track and field athlete at Evanston Township High School. He attended San Francisco State University and worked part time at the Stanford Court Hotel where he was able to hang out with luminaries such as Truman Capote. John was the owner of JKW PI & Associates, a private investigation firm based in Sacramento until 2004 when a serious injury forced an early retirement. John's passion for golf, reading, and knowledge was secondary to the devotion he had for the love of his life, his wife, Nanette. Always her cheerleader and continuous charmer, his greatest joy was spending time with her (when not golfing). True to his Irish roots, John was a grand storyteller and jokester, loyal and faithful friend never having met a stranger. To John, life was a grand adventure, with no risk too small and no obstacle too big. His friendly, warm manner, great sense of humor and sharp wit will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 22 years, Nanette de la Torre; his daughter Kelly Walsh; two grandchildren Madelynn and Will Momeyer; brother Jim Walsh; sister, Anne Walsh; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Frances Walsh. A private memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Simi Valley. In lieu of flowers, or gifts, the family encourages that memorial donations in John's name be sent to the American Red Cross.
