Life Experiences:
After earning a BA in Physics from Case Western Reserve University in 1974 I went to law school expecting to work in patent law. Instead I started my career as Counsel to the President of The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston, Texas. After 6 years I got ambitious and worked for a large national law firm representing large hospitals and physician groups until the special practice based on two federal laws was abruptly ended when those two statutes were repealed in the same month. I was married by then with my first child on the way and found a job as general counsel for an HMO in Orange County CA. I shifted career path and became a civil trial lawyer in 1984. I tried personal injury, real estate, construction and insurance coverage cases; winning 85% of them. I retired in 2016.
Notable stuff I did: I've been a passenger on the Goodyear Blimp TWICE. I read all 11 volumes of "The Diary of Samuel Peyes" TWICE. I read "Ulysses", "Recovery of Lost Time" and "Infinite Jest" TWICE. I was President of my synagogue just in time for the recession of 2008 and the Rabbi getting caught having an affair with a congregant and the Cantor giving birth to triplets. It was not a happy experience.
Crazy Stuff I do: I am on my 31th year of martial arts training. Yes I have a Black Belt (Third Degree) in Kempo Karate and a BLACK Belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. I am in a Shakespeare Reading Group that reads the plays aloud and got to play Iago, The Fool in Lear, Anthony and Puck.
