Profile Updated: February 16, 2021
Current Home: West Hollywood, CA USA
Job/Work Activity: Writer/Film industry executive
Yes! Attending Reunion
Life Experiences:

After undergraduate and graduate years (5) at Northwestern (poli sci/film studies, not my anticipated journalism), began a career as in film exhibition as a buyer/programmer, first with Brotman Theaters, then Skokie-based M&R Theaters. Among accomplishments I developed the Sandberg, then Fine Arts and later the Pipers' Alley Theaters as Chicago's prime specialized theaters (and being selected by the Chicago Tribune as one of the "movers and shakers" in the local arts community). Locally also booked the Evanston and Old Orchard.Relocated to New York in 1991 by Loews Theaters (which had acquired M&R). Moved to the Los Angeles area (specifically the city of West Hollywood) in 2000 for other film buyer opportunities. I've returned to my original ETHS roots in journalism (I was Editor in Chief of the Evanstonian in 1969-70, aided by an extremely talented staff who I never adequately appreciated) and am now Box Office Editor at IndieWire (indiewire.com). I moved to Palm Springs CA in March 2016. Have since moving to CA been devoted to multiple dog and cat companions, currently one of each.

School Memories:

Here's one - that weird feeling in 1967-8 of having classes in rooms in the old school buildings (post-expansion) that had earlier been restrooms.

I am so sorry to hear about Carol. She was a terrific member of the Evanstonian staff 1969-1970 - always helpful, eager, and as I recall capable of speaking up and adding much to the process. I see she then went on to a career that included writing, which is no surprise. Hearing about her brings up many good memories even as she is mourned.
