Peter Wroblewski VIEW PROFILE

Several souces notified our website of Peter's passing.

Published by Chicago Tribune on Apr. 18, 2021.

Peter Wroblewski was born on April 8th, 1952 in Chicago, IL to the late Sigmund and Estelle Wroblewski. He passed away on April 8th, 2021 at age 69, leaving a hole in the hearts of all who loved him. Working in the restaurant business in his earlier years, and newly retired from a stellar career at Highland Baking, Peter never missed a day of work. That didn't stop him from being the neighborhood dad who coached the teams, attended the games, and hosted the barbecues on his prized charcoal grill while his family and friends played in the pool they so enjoyed together. Whether telling a joke, discussing the news or performing a magic trick, Peter was the guy who lit up the room. He was in his happy place playing a round of golf with his sons, tackling a project, or planning a trip with his wife. Married to his soulmate of nearly 37 years, Peter leaves behind his beloved wife, Valerie, his sons Kyle and Chris (Brittany), grandson Blake, sisters Donna Dehnert and Kristine Wroblewski, brother-in-law Scott (Joyce) Steinman, and sister-in-laws Laura White, Jill (Marshall) Okun, Vicki (Mark) Lorang, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Peter, dearly. Ask his sons and they will tell you there was no better dad. No better role model. No better friend. He was that loyal guy who always had your back. He was the ultimate family man who loved life like there was no tomorrow. Those of us who were lucky to bask in the sunshine of his presence will always remember him. Memorial service will be private.

Pete and I were locker partners in West / Boltwood.  A very nice, quiet, unassuming guy with a good smile.  We were never really close friends, but I enjoyed being around him.  Sad to learn of his passing.

Peace to you, my friend.

Peter Wroblewski and I were best friends since kindergarten at the old Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School in Evanston (long since closed )   We were Altar Boys together, Traffic Patrol Boys and fire Marshals , as well as playing all sports at Boltwood (Crown) park and Boltwood Gym.  When we chose high schools, he selected St George in Evanston (long since closed) while I selected ETHS.   By our junior year I had convinced Pete to transfer to Evanston  (was easy since St George was closing )  We both graduated together, and went on to go to college , raised our families while continuing to play golf and the occasional beverage.  Years passed , and I constantly reminded Pete to retire as I had   Finally Pete retired , and we looked forward to more golf and grandfathering .   6 months after Pete retired he died , on his birthday April 8, a year ago.  Went in the hospital for a routine surgical procedure, and died that night in the hospital .  His wife asked me to speak at his funeral , which I did , but I can't recall what I said , I was still in a state of shock .  This is the first time I have really been able to address Pete's death.  65 years of friendship ended with a phone call that I will never forget.

Jim, you may have forgotten what you said about Pete, but that being said you eulogized him very lovingly.  May his memory be for a blessing.  He will always be in our hearts.

There was nobody that made me laugh like Peter did. I have so many memories of him that still make me smile and laugh 50 years later. I didn't know him till he came to ETHS, but it seems that I knew him forever. Most importantly, he taught me how to swear in Polish! Hell of a guy! Miss him.

I knew Pete through my locker mate Jim Wolinski and his locker mate Don Doberstein. Good guy with a great personality and an even bigger smile.  Rest well.

Peter was one of 5 cousins in the Piotrowicz family all born in the same year. Four of us, Bob Reid, Karen Tracz, Peter & I were blessed to celebrate our 65th birthdays together. Our 5th cousin Jean lives in IN and couldn't join us that night. I was just starting to plan for another get together for our 70th this year when Peter passed away. Didn't realize we'd be down to 4 so soon.  crying Rest in peace, cousin. We all miss you dearly.
