In Memory

Jeffrey Pietrangelo

Many thanks to Ed Sackley for notifying us of Jeff Pietrangelo's passing.  Though his passing was a number of years ago, I am sure those who remember him from YAMO 1969 will recall his musical talent.  The link in his obituary notice below from the Wisconsin Association for Jazz Education provides a wonderful biography of the great career he built starting at an early age.  We were fortunate to have him at ETHS, even though his stay in Evanston was very brief.

Further comments from Ed:

Date Of Birth: 10-27-1952
Date Deceased: 12-27-2012
Age at Death: 60
Cause of Death: Heart Attack
Classmate City: Milwaukee
Classmate State: WI
Classmate Country: USA
Survived By: His sister, Carol Wilson; his brother-in-law, Pat Wilson; a niece, Gina Wilson; and many cousins.

Jeff played trumpet in YAMO 1969 with Michael Bard, Charles Barrett, Larry Kassen (Niles North), Gary Laskin, Lee Diaz, Ed Sackley and Karroll Alexander. The band also performed outside YAMO for a couple of years as a jazz/rock ensemble a la Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Jeff's family was from Milwaukee and he returned there right after ETHS, which he attended for junior and senior years.

Many of us had the priviledge to play with Jeff in the Jazz Band, Orchestra, and others ensembles at ETHS.

Years later, I chanced to hear his name mentioned when listeing to jazz stations.
